Job Description

This is a 'worker contract' position, and due to the working model, only applicants based in the UK are eligible to apply.

The Opportunity

We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for an Academic Learning Design Lead: Module Design and Development to join Arden University’s dynamic Engineering Department. In this role, you will lead the academic design and development of high-quality modules within our Virtual Learning Environment (iLearn, built on Moodle). Working collaboratively with colleagues across academic and professional services teams, you will create engaging, inclusive, and innovative learning experiences that align with Arden’s Prepare, Engage, Demonstrate (PED) model. Your contributions will be central to advancing our mission of supporting student continuation, engagement, and success in our distance learning environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Module Design Leadership: Lead the academic design of assigned modules, aligning with learning outcomes, institutional strategy, and the PED model.
  • Collaborative Design Process: Contribute to key development stages, including Kick-off Meetings, Design Workshops, Sprints, and Sign-Off.
  • Content Creation and Co-Development: Develop and co-create pedagogically sound online lessons, integrating interactive and multimedia-rich elements.
  • Assessment Development: Design authentic, inclusive, and feedback-focused assessment tasks.
  • Timeliness and Communication: Proactively manage progress, meet deadlines, and flag risks or challenges early.
  • Quality Assurance: Work with Academic Reviewers to ensure modules meet academic and pedagogical standards.
  • Professional Development: Engage with training to stay current on digital skills, pedagogy, and emerging technologies.

About You:

As our new Academic Learning Design Lead: Module Design and Development you will have a passion for creating structured, interactive, and learner-centred experiences. You’ll bring experience in designing or delivering online or blended learning modules and understand how to build multimedia-rich, engaging environments. Strong written communication skills, an understanding of inclusive and accessible design principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in agile, sprint-based processes are essential. You’ll be comfortable working with tools such as Moodle, Padlet, Mentimeter, and H5P – or eager to learn – and be curious about how AI-supported tools can further enhance content creation. Above all, you’ll be collaborative, innovative, and learner-focused, ensuring every design decision puts our students’ success at the forefront.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
