About the role

As an Academic Mentor, you will guide applicants through all stages of the graduate admissions process from identifying suitable programs and supervisors to submitting competitive applications. This is a fully remote, freelance role with complete scheduling flexibility: you set your own rate, choose how many mentees you take on, and structure mentorships around your research, teaching or professional commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor applicants through the graduate admissions process (Bachelor, Master, PhD, Postdoc)
  • Advise on building a balanced list of target programs, supervisors and funded positions
  • Review and give feedback on documents including CVs, statements of purpose, etc.
  • Prepare mentees for interviews

Requirements

  • A completed or in-progress Master's, PhD or Postdoc position at an accredited university in high demand study destinations or faculty/supervisory experience, including admissions committee experience
  • First-hand success navigating graduate admissions, scholarships, or funded positions
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English (additional languages a plus, our applicants span 50+ nationalities)
  • Organized, empathetic, and able to build trust with applicants
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
