About The Role
Academic Skills Adviser
INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY
This part-time (0.6FTE) post is available from 07/09/2026 until 31/12/2027. Applications for secondments will be considered subject to agreement from your current line manager.
Salary will be £43,482 per annum pro rata on Grade F subject to knowledge, skills, and experience.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some from home.
Working as a team alongside others in the Library, the Academic Skills Advisers lead on the design, development, and delivery of activities to support students to build and enhance the skills they need to succeed in their studies and in the workplace. With all activity aligned closely to the University’s Access and Participation Plan, the team achieves this via teaching, creation of innovative materials, and individual support, leveraging technology to provide the most up-to-date and impactful pedagogy.

About You
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and support activities on study skills/digital skills in a variety of formats. They will be a skilled communicator: able to work well with others, managing and mentoring as appropriate and leading on new initiatives within the team and beyond. They will also have the ability to utilise technology to create innovative and pedagogically sound resources for use by the team and others across the institution.
