West Yorkshire has a vibrant clinical academic research community across many clinical specialties requiring strategic partnership between the University of Leeds, NHS England North East and Yorkshire and regional NHS partners including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Academic Training Programme Directors
Academic Training Programme Directors are commissioned by the Postgraduate Deanery (NHS England North East and Yorkshire) to direct the strategic leadership of regional NIHR Integrated Academic Training (IAT) programmes and oversee Deputy Academic Training Programme Director management of academic training placements and monitoring and promotion of academic progression within the IAT programme.

Role Overview
The Academic Training Programme Director (ATPD) West Yorkshire oversees clinical academic training linked to the University of Leeds and West Yorkshire NHS Trusts and NHS partnerships. The ATPD is professionally and managerially accountable to the Postgraduate Dean (or nominated Deputy). The ATPD will focus upon programme quality and outcomes, overseeing provision of academic supervision, assessment and monitoring and will ensure effective processes are in place to support resident’s academic progression.
