Post-16 Teacher (Fixed-Term – Maternity Cover)
Location: [Set academy location if available] Term: Fixed-term (8 months, November 2026–July 2027)
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave, with a focus on delivering cutting-edge education and mentorship within an elite football environment.
About the Role
The Academy Education Post-16 Teacher will spearhead the delivery of our scholarship education programme, with a primary focus on:
- BTEC Level 3 in Sporting Performance and Excellence
- Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) qualification
You will lead outstanding teaching, ensuring players achieve target grades while fostering their holistic off-pitch development. This role is critical to maintaining the Academy’s Category 1 status, as you contribute to player storytelling, mental resilience, and bespoke educational pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Delivery & Standards: Consistently deliver high-quality, engaging lessons for the BTEC and SEP programmes, ensuring sustained academic progress for all scholars.
- Curriculum Leadership: Support the Academy’s EPPP-aligned education strategies, including:
- Destination tracking (pre- and post-scholarship)
- External liaisons (schools, awarding bodies, governing bodies)
- Discipline compliance with Premier League, EPPP, and Ofsted standards
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and report student progress using measurable data, intervening timely to support target grade attainment.
- Pastoral Role: Partner with the pastoral team to ensure players’ educational and personal development aligns with wider academy objectives (e.g., Academy Life Plan).
- Resource Development: Create and maintain schemes of work, assessment frameworks, and departmental resources.
- Collaboration:
- Attend departmental phase-specific and league-led education meetings.
- Engage with sporting teams, coaches, parents, and external partners (schools, coaches, administrators).
- CPD Engagement: Commit to professional development, including relevant training and continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements
Essential:
- Qualifications: Qualified teacher status (PGCE with QTS or equivalent).
- Expertise:
- Proven KS3, KS4, and BTEC KS5 delivery experience (with a track record of excellence).
- Working knowledge of BTEC qualifications and specialisms (e.g., Sport and Performance).

- Pastoral Experience: Strong history of holistic support for young people (academic, emotional, career progression).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal abilities, and terrier attitude.

Ideal but Not Essential:
- Elite Sport Background: Experience in an academy or professional sporting environment, ideally within football.
- Host Education Qualifications: Knowledge of EPPP frameworks and interval programme structures.
- SEP & Alternative Qualifications: Familiarity with delivering:
- Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) apprenticeships.
- Other HL/Level 3 A-Levels or vocational qualifications.
- PE & Mentoring Exp:
- PE-based teaching experience or councillor training.
- Coordination of education projects or team leadership.
- External Liaison: Experience working with siblings, schools, apprentices, or coaching staff.
Achievalement & Student Support
- Fostering an inclusive, high-quality learning environment, rooted in the Academy’s values.
- Promoting positive behaviours in and out of lessons.
- Supporting player transitions (scholarship → university/employment via
A-Level, apprenticeships, EPQs).
