Role Description
The Academy Head Coach is a contract, on-site role based at Mill Green Golf Club in Hatfield, responsible for leading the coaching program and day-to-day operations of the academy.
This role oversees the design and delivery of coaching curriculums for players of varying ages and abilities, ensuring sessions are high quality, engaging, and aligned with Orbis Golf methodologies and tools.

The Academy Head Coach manages and mentors coaching staff, coordinates lesson schedules, and maintains clear communication with players, parents, and facility management.

Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring player progress using available data and software
- Organizing coaching events and group programs
- Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and professional environment
The role also involves collaborating with Orbis Golf and the Club at Mill Green to support business growth, retention, and continuous improvement of the academy’s coaching offerings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a golf coach or teaching professional, with a strong track record of developing players across different skill levels.
- Professional coaching certifications or relevant credentials (e.g., PGA or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Ability to design structured coaching programs, lesson plans, and player development pathways.
- Comfort using technology, coaching software, and performance data to inform training and track progress.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, mentor, and coordinate a team of coaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing inclusive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory coaching.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to handle scheduling, administration, and multiple programs simultaneously.
- Customer-focused mindset, with experience building positive relationships with players, parents, and facility stakeholders.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe environment and adhering to safeguarding and health and safety standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak golf season hours as required by academy operations.
