The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist (Casual Part-Time) to join our dynamic Academy Performance Support team predominantly on weekday evenings and weekends.

Reporting to and working alongside the Head of Academy Performance Support, the successful candidate will:

• Be part of an age-groups multidisciplinary team for fixtures with the responsibilities of providing pitch-side emergency first aid cover and aid in the squads pre-game warmup/activation both home and away, focusing on evidence-based assessment and treatment (within scope of practice) of injured academy players, including appropriate referral to primary care where necessary.
• Provide pitch-side emergency first aid (within scope of practice) for registered players in academy training sessions focusing on evidence-based assessment and treatment of injuries, including appropriate referral to primary care where necessary.
• Assist in injury clinics focusing on evidence-based assessment and treatment of injured academy players and delivering programmes written in conjunction with full time staff, modifying when necessary.
• When travelling on club transport be the medical lead for any incidence that would require professional medical intervention.
• Ensure all medical records, clinical notes and paper documentation are maintained and stored on the FIP system, in line with governing body guidelines at all times within 24 hours.
• Understand and disseminate the Academy’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) to visiting teams and operate in accordance with the EAP when working at the Alan Higgs Centre. When travelling away be aware of the sites EAP.
• Work collaboratively with the wider academy multidisciplinary team, contributing towards an integrated approach to deliver provisions for academy players.
• Liaise appropriately with parents/guardians, coaches, medical and performance staff regarding new or existing injuries sustained on training/match day, sign posting them to the Academy Physiotherapy Appointment booking process.
• Maintain all mandatory qualifications, certifications and training required for the role, in line with current EPPP guidelines and Club requirements. This includes, as a minimum, ITMMiF, FA Safeguarding, Club Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Health and Safety training, alongside any qualifications, registrations or ongoing professional development requirements set by the relevant professional governing body.
• Participate in a biannual appraisal process, setting appropriate goals based on your individual personal development plan and feedback from Head of Performance Support.
• Engage in appropriate personal CPD and attend, with appropriate contributions the continued professional development program within the Academy Medical department, including any mandatory training delivered by Coventry City Academy at their request of the Academy Manager.
• Promote the Academy Values and uphold the staff, player and parent code of conduct.
• Any other reasonable tasks as required by your line manager or the Academy Manager.
