Academy Scout (Local)
CONTRACT: Fixed-Term Contract until June 2028 - 20 Hours per Week
LOCATION: Remote with Travel Required

The Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and well-connected Academy Scout (Local) to play a key role in our Academy Recruitment team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced talent identifier to contribute to one of the world's leading football academies, providing high-quality player insights and recommendations that help shape the future of the club. Working closely with the Senior Scout and wider recruitment team, you will use your football knowledge, scouting expertise, and local network to identify and assess emerging talent from U13 level and above.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend live matches and review video footage to identify and assess prospective academy players.
- Produce detailed, objective player reports in line with Chelsea's scouting standards and timelines.
- Provide evidence-based player recommendations supported by clear observations and analysis.
- Create and manage video clips of players to support recruitment discussions and decision-making.
- Assist in developing player shortlists and presentations for senior recruitment staff.
- Gather background information, contextual insights, and intelligence on key players of interest.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date player information within internal recruitment databases.
- Scout at tournaments, festivals, and recruitment events as required, including occasional international travel.
- Participate in recruitment meetings, performance reviews, and continued professional development activities.
- Support wider Academy Recruitment projects and initiatives as needed.

What we are looking for:
- Minimum FA Level 2 Talent ID Qualification or UEFA B Coaching Licence.
- Valid passport and full driving Licence.
- At least one year's scouting experience within a professional football environment.
- Strong understanding of academy football, talent identification, and player development pathways.
- Extensive knowledge of the local football landscape and established football networks within the region.
- Proven ability to produce clear, concise, and insightful scouting reports with a high level of accuracy.
- Confident presenting observations and player recommendations to senior staff.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable learning and using specialist scouting systems.
- Experience using video analysis or clipping software would be advantageous.
