About The Job You’re Considering
Energy & Utilities is at the heart of some of the biggest challenges shaping society today. As part of this pathway, you will work alongside leading organisations that are transforming how energy and essential services are delivered for the future. From accelerating the transition to net zero to helping businesses modernise and adapt in a rapidly changing world, you will contribute to projects that create lasting impact for millions of customers and communities.
The Accelerate Programme
The Accelerate Programme is Capgemini Invent UK's award winning graduate development programme. Over approximately 19 to 21 months, you'll progress from Associate Consultant to Consultant through a blend of structured learning, coaching, mentoring and hands on client experience. Following an initial three week induction and a twelve week consulting training programme delivered by the Institute, you'll move into your chosen pathway, applying your skills on live client projects while benefiting from ongoing development, regular feedback and a strong graduate community. Travel to client sites may be required, and candidates should live within reasonable commuting distance of their chosen office location.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business. It will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home. Please note that you will be unable to work from home 100 percent of the time.
Your Role
As an Associate Consultant, you will be involved in working as part of project teams to help clients solve complex business challenges across the Energy & Utilities sector. You'll contribute to meaningful client outcomes, build trusted relationships, and develop the skills and confidence to thrive in a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support client delivery across strategy, transformation, operating model design, and implementation projects.
- Analyse data, processes, and business requirements to identify insights and improvement opportunities.
- Help develop practical recommendations, business cases, and change approaches that deliver client outcomes.
- Contribute to workshops, stakeholder discussions, and cross functional team activities.
- Leverage digital and AI technologies to accelerate delivery, unlock insights, and drive measurable business value.
- Support wider pathway activities, including community initiatives, thought leadership, business development, and sector engagement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
