About This Programme
Access Ashurst is a fully paid two-week work experience programme designed to open doors to law for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In week one you'll spend time at Ashurst's London office gaining insight into life at a global commercial law firm, with legal supervisor shadowing and interactive skills sessions covering news literacy, recruitment tips, and debating. In week two you'll visit five different organisations through the Social Mobility Business Partnership, getting an in-depth look at in-house legal roles. Beyond the two weeks, you'll be matched with an Ashurst mentor throughout Year 13 for ongoing career guidance and support into higher education or employment. You'll be paid the London Living Wage, have all travel expenses covered in advance, receive a clothing voucher for professional dress, and have lunch provided throughout. Accommodation expenses are also covered if you live more than two hours from London. Applications for 2026/27 are now closed โ the next cycle opens 6 October 2026.

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

โIt took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what Iโve been looking for.โ
