  • Manage and support Access Team members
  • Monitor patient tracking lists (PTL) and waiting times to prevent target breaches.
  • Make sure booking processes follow the NHS Patient Access Policy.
  • Work with clinical and managerial staff to fix bottlenecks and improve patient flow.
  • Analyze performance data and present clear updates to senior managers.
  • Contribute to the development of key performance indicators for the successful assessment of performance and to improve quality, productivity and efficiency of services, highlighting trends and anomalies as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and act as a subject matter expert on the Trust Access policy and act as the point of reference for queries relating to patient pathways.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of NHS waiting times, RTT rules, and patient access targets.
  • Proven experience in leading a team and solving complex problems.
  • Great communication and digital skills, with experience using NHS patient systems (e.g., e-Referrals, eCaMIS, or similar PAS).
  • Calm and positive attitude when working under pressure.
  • Flexible team player and a desire to provide a first-class service for patients and clinical teams

Qualifications / Training Required

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience or training
  • Good knowledge of a range of administrative systems and processes
  • Proven skill in utilisation of data analysis IT systems and Microsoft office packages
  • Wide breadth of speciality knowledge in relation to access activities

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of developing programmes/systems that monitor and improve efficiency or safety in a healthcare environment
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of project/programme management.

  • Significant operational and service management experience within a Health setting.
  • Detailed specialist knowledge of health service and trust policy in relation to access and nationally agreed targets
  • Proficient knowledge of all hospital computerised patient management systems
  • Experience of dealing with non routine and complex problems, chasing progress and ensuring appropriate resource management
  • Working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute to cost improvement and service improvement projects
  • Experience of working directly with colleagues, commissioners, patients and their families in responding to complaints or queries related to access to services

Desirable criteria

  • Able to demonstrate evidence of effective financial management.
  • Experience of developing user/carer involvement.
  • Experience of complex change management.
  • Skills/experience of working with senior clinicians.

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision to analyse current processes and develop monitoring systems
  • Articulate with highly developed communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels, including interpersonal skills, liaison and negotiation skills.
  • IT skills and ability to develop these skills further
  • Ability to prioritise work and adapt to changing deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in working with complex data and issues
