We are recruiting an Account Analyst to join our Outsourced Tax Management team within the Tax & Reward practice.

About Macfarlanes

Macfarlanes is a pre-eminent law firm that serves a global client base in private capital, private wealth, M&A and disputes. Personal connection, an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to excellence are at the heart of our firm. These values drive our ability to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

We are big enough to undertake the most complex and demanding mandates yet small enough to know each other well and to be agile, adapting to the needs of our clients. We seek to strengthen the firm by recruiting talented people from all backgrounds who want to build long-lasting and impactful careers with us. Our culture is challenging and supportive, creating an environment where individuals can thrive.

What this means for you

Joining Macfarlanes means being part of a collaborative, Partner-led team where you’ll develop and learn from experienced lawyers and business professionals. Our size means you’ll be given genuine responsibility early on and often be involved at the heart of client matters, gaining insight into how our high-quality legal advice is developed and delivered to help clients overcome their most pressing issues.

  • You’ll work closely with senior colleagues who are approachable and who want you to succeed.
  • You’ll be encouraged to get involved in client and business development activities, and you’ll be recognised for your contribution.
  • The majority of our work has a cross-border focus, so you’ll often collaborate with global clients and specialist advisers in overseas jurisdictions.
  • You’ll build connections with international law firms, broaden your experience, and be part of a multidisciplinary team that comes together to achieve the best results.
  • We also place real importance on your development. Our training and mentoring programmes are second to none, and designed to help you strengthen your legal and commercial skills.
  • Above all, you’ll be part of a firm where we all work together as part of a cohesive and supportive team, where you’ll be recognised and appreciated, and encouraged to succeed.

The team

Our Tax & Reward group is rated as one of the leading tax advisory practices in the City. As with any tax practice in a City law firm, a proportion of our work is transaction-based, supporting corporate, financing, real estate and investment fund transactions. However, a substantial and increasing part of our practice involves giving free-standing tax advice to clients of the group.

Our Outsourced Tax Management team provides private fund managers with scalable, cost-effective tax support without the overhead of building out an in-house tax function. The team manages entity establishment and onboarding, ongoing tax operations, tax filing and compliance oversight, executive tax support, and deal support for private equity and credit fund clients, working collaboratively across a range of U.S., U.K. and other cross-border tax matters.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The role

This is a great opportunity for someone at the start of their career to join our Outsourced Tax Management team, which is part of the broader Tax and Reward practice at Macfarlanes. You will work closely with Senior Tax Advisors, learning the fundamentals of fund entity establishment, onboarding and account setup for private equity and credit fund clients, while being supported and coached along the way.

The individual will be required to carry out a broad range of good quality work. Key duties will include:

  • supporting entity establishment and onboarding projects for newly formed fund structures, working closely with more senior team members throughout;
  • assisting with obtaining tax IDs and registering/deregistering entities with local jurisdictions for tax purposes;
  • assisting with withholding tax applications and the opening of cash and custody accounts for investing entities;
  • liaising with clients and relevant parties, including custodians, service providers, investors and other counterparties across various jurisdictions, for account setup purposes;
  • maintaining accurate records of onboarding progress, tracking outstanding items and following up with relevant parties to keep projects on schedule;
  • supporting the preparation of onboarding documentation and ensuring information is filed and organised correctly;
  • assisting with ad-hoc administrative tasks connected to entity onboarding, account setup and other tax administration matters as required by the team; and
  • developing a working understanding of the tax and administrative requirements relevant to fund onboarding, with support and guidance from senior colleagues.

This job description encompasses the main duties of the role and is by no means exhaustive. It is anticipated that duties may vary from time to time according to the needs of the practice area.

  • self-motivated, organised and committed to providing high quality support in a practical, client-facing context;
  • strong attention to detail, along with excellent time management skills and a meticulous approach to work;
