We are supporting a fantastic client based in Blackburn with an Accounts Assistant opportunity.

As an Accounts Assistant you will support the day to day finance function and cover a broad range of transactional accounting and reconciliation activities.

This opportunity does offer hybrid working and flexible working hours after a successful probationary period.

Responsibilities of the role as a Accounts Assistant:

• Perform regular bank reconciliations, investigate outstanding and unusual items, and resolve differences arising from foreign currency transactions.
• Maintain accurate daily cashbook records across multiple entities and currencies, ensuring transactions are posted promptly and correctly.
• Process, code and review purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy, appropriate authorisation and timely processing.
• Support the processing, reconciliation and review of employment-related costs, ensuring information is accurately recorded within the finance systems.
• Produce debtor and creditor reports, monitor outstanding balances and liaise with relevant teams to resolve queries and follow up overdue items.
• Process and reconcile supplier and other business payments, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately supported.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and investigate discrepancies, escalating complex or unresolved issues to Management Accountants where required.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns and associated working papers for both UK and overseas entities.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for review.
• Prepare monthly management information for review by Management Accountants and assist in investigating and resolving queries arising from the review process.
