Accounts Assistant

Manchester | Permanent | Hybrid

We're working with a growing organisation that is looking to add an experienced Accounts Assistant to its finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger and reconciliations who is looking for a stable, long-term career move within a supportive finance environment.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations while also gaining exposure to wider accounting activities and month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing high volumes of supplier invoices and credit notes
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
  • Managing supplier accounts and statement reconciliations
  • Preparing and processing BACS payment runs
  • Performing bank reconciliations and cash allocation
  • Maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve payment and invoice queries
  • Supporting month-end activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Assisting with financial reporting and maintaining strong financial controls

About You

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role
  • Strong invoice processing and supplier reconciliation experience
  • Confident using finance systems and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Able to manage workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and confident when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A stable employment history within finance
  • Long-term experience within Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or Accounts Assistant positions
  • A track record of building expertise and progressing within previous organisations
  • Commitment to developing a long-term career within finance
  • Experience working as part of an established finance team supporting business-as-usual operations
