Job Title: Account Controller
Location: Ipswich (Hybrid)
Reporting Line: Accounting and Settlement Lead
The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Account Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of reinsurance transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
This role works closely with Broking, Placement Support, Finance, Organisation Management and Risk & Compliance teams to support effective Client Service.
- Responsible for ensuring the secure, efficient and auditable handling of client’s monies and conducting daily analysis and application of cash to ensure no delays in the movement of funds.
- Responsible for the fiscal relationship for your designated portfolio of accounts and act as the main point of contact for all matters relating to fiduciary activities.
Ledger Management and Reconciliation
- Maintain and update reinsurance accounts ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries.
- Actively service accounts to a high standard and ensure timely collection and payment of monies due to/from clients, reinsurers and third parties.
- Perform regular reconciliations of reinsurance accounts identifying and resolving discrepancies to the satisfaction of all parties.
Compliance
- Ensure reinsurance transactions comply with company policies, contractual terms and industry regulations, including sanctions considerations, CASS requirements and other regulatory obligations.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to accounting and settlement when required.
- Identify control gaps, breaches or process inefficiencies and support remediation.
- Contribute to improvements in processes, controls and systems, including automation and AI solutions.

Business Support & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a key point of contact for sanctions-related queries from broking, placement and client service teams.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders for the benefits of our clients.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the processing of reinsurance accounts.
Data & MI
- Use MI to identify debtor related problems and advance, negotiate and influence where necessary to resolve.
- Contribute to MI reporting on Accounting and Settlement activities and key performance indicator metrics.
- Identify trends and opportunities to enhance efficiency and control effectiveness.
About You
- Organised, responsive and comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Detail-focused with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience in a similar role within the Reinsurance industry.
- Comfortable operating within a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Collaborative approach with sound risk awareness and judgement.
