Account CTO
Job Summary
The Account CTO will be closely aligned with a client organization and will be responsible for translating the client's business priorities, technology problem spaces, application portfolio, technology standards, platform constraints, regulatory expectations, and domain requirements into actionable technology strategies and solution designs.
The role requires an external-facing technologist who can operate at the intersection of business outcomes, engineering execution, platform modernization, and responsible AI adoption. The Account CTO must be able to engage client executives and senior stakeholders, identify patterns across business and technology issues, shape outcome-based solution opportunities, and work with Mphasis teams to justify, design, and deliver solutions that create measurable business impact.
The position requires AI-native thinking, strong hands-on engineering depth, and practical experience with GenAI/LLMs, Agentic AI, AI-led engineering, context engineering, AI guardrails, cloud, containers, AI/ML, API platforms, security, IAM, data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake, SaaS ecosystems, and hyperscalers including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
The Account CTO should be able to harness AI tools as core engineering and leadership capabilities across discovery, architecture, code generation, modernization, testing, documentation, observability, operations, and delivery governance. For regulated industries, the role must also establish Agentic Governance and Controls covering human oversight, policy enforcement, model and agent risk management, auditability, data protection, traceability, access controls, and operational controls.
The CTO will establish and maintain technology standards, evaluate emerging technologies, develop points of view on adoption trends, and build technology strategy and overall solution architecture for business domains. This role requires a collaborative account leader who can guide medium to large-scale software delivery, influence client and Mphasis teams, and drive results with discipline and quality.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Translate client business priorities into technology strategy, solution roadmaps, architecture patterns, delivery plans, and measurable business outcomes.
- Apply business outcome-based approaches to shape technology investments, modernization programs, AI adoption, platform strategy, and delivery commitments.
- Bring AI-native thinking to account strategy by identifying where AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, automation, and intelligent platforms can improve productivity, risk controls, customer experience, operational resilience, and speed to value.
- Lead AI-led engineering practices across the account, including AI-supported requirements analysis, architecture, code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, DevSecOps, observability, and production operations.
- Harness AI tools as practical skills across engineering and leadership workflows, including prompt and context engineering, repository-aware assistants, secure code assistants, test generation, migration accelerators, agent-based automation, and knowledge management.
- Define Agentic Governance and Controls for regulated environments, including policy guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls, agent permissions, data boundaries, model and tool access, audit trails, explainability, runtime monitoring, incident response, and control evidence.
- Establish AI guardrails and responsible AI practices for client environments, including security, privacy, compliance, bias, model risk, operational risk, third-party risk, and change management considerations.
- Develop technology solutions, roadmaps, architecture patterns, design specifications, and reference implementations aligned to client standards and enterprise architecture.
- Work with account delivery teams to cultivate innovation, adopt client-approved technology trends, and convert emerging technology ideas into executable pilots, PoCs, and scaled delivery opportunities.
- Provide hands-on architecture and engineering leadership across AWS, Azure, GCP, Java, Spring, Kafka, REST/JSON, Web APIs, data platforms, API platforms, and cloud-native platforms.
- Architect enterprise-wide systems, integration patterns, third-party application integrations, SaaS integrations, data flows, and secure platform interfaces.
- Collaborate with, lead, and inspire technical teams across the account, including onsite and offshore engineering, architecture, delivery, security, operations, and product teams.
- Apply API-first design, test-driven development, secure engineering, reusable platform patterns, and modern cloud-native delivery practices.
- Actively investigate relevant tools, techniques, frameworks, and platform capabilities and provide a clear point of view on adoption, risk, implementation approach, and value realization.
- Build rapid prototypes and PoCs to validate business value, feasibility, architecture, delivery effort, operational readiness, and compliance considerations.
- Provide guidance to technical teams on solution design, delivery execution, engineering quality, governance, troubleshooting, and stakeholder communication.

Education and Experience Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology discipline.
- 15+ years of professional software development, engineering, architecture, or technology leadership experience.
- 5+ years in a technical leadership role such as Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Account CTO, Platform Architect, or similar client-facing technology leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to connect technology strategy to business outcomes, commercial impact, delivery feasibility, operational risk, and client executive priorities.
- Strong knowledge of AI-native delivery, GenAI/LLMs, Agentic AI, AI-led engineering, context engineering, prompt engineering, AI guardrails, model evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
- Experience applying AI tools in real engineering workflows, including architecture, coding, modernization, testing, documentation, DevSecOps, productivity measurement, and delivery governance.
- Experience defining governance and control frameworks for Agentic AI or AI-enabled delivery in regulated environments, including auditability, security, privacy, access control, human oversight, compliance, and operational controls.
- Good knowledge of cloud, containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, microservices, API platforms, integration patterns, and modern distributed systems architecture.
- Knowledgeable in Java, Spring, Kafka, REST services, API gateways, Web API architecture, data platforms, and secure platform engineering.
- Experience with hyperscalers including AWS, Azure, and GCP, and platform ecosystems such as Databricks, Snowflake, SaaS platforms, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Exposure to large enterprise-wide implementations as an architect or senior technology leader.
- Strong experience translating user, functional, technical, nonfunctional, regulatory, security, and operational requirements into solution architecture and execution plans.
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to influence client stakeholders, product managers, delivery leaders, engineering teams, QA, security, operations, and business units.
- Demonstrated ability to lead groups of engineers through all phases of major programs, from discovery and design through build, testing, deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of server-side engineering, scalability, performance, resilience, observability, reliability, maintainability, and production support expectations.
- Proven capability and track record in leading advanced technology initiatives, modernization programs, AI adoption, platform engineering, and client-facing innovation programs.
- Ability to capture, track, and reconcile functional and technical requirements across organizations, business units, governance forums, and delivery teams.
- Proven interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to relate to people, communicate effectively under pressure, and provide clear direction in complex delivery or client situations.
