Why Join The Plumbing Distribution Company Ltd?
The Plumbing Distribution Company Ltd is a growing and ambitious distributor serving plumbers' merchants and trade customers throughout the UK. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service, building long-term partnerships, and helping our customers grow their businesses.
As part of our continued expansion, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Account Development Manager to join our team in Chelmsford.
This is an excellent opportunity to inherit an established customer base, drive account growth, and significantly increase your earnings through a transparent and rewarding bonus structure.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated sales professional who enjoys building customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering results.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing and developing an existing portfolio of plumbers' merchants and trade customers
- Proactively generating additional business through account development, customer retention, reactivation of dormant accounts, and new business opportunities
This is not simply an order-processing role. We are looking for someone who can actively influence customer spend, identify opportunities across our product range, and contribute directly to the company's sales growth objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
