The Role
We are seeking an experienced integrated Account Director to join us on a 5 month fixed-term contract basis to work on The Sun brands.
The Account Director will be the champion for delivering great work, on time and on budget. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day of key projects, acting as the client’s trusted partner and the go-to project lead. You will work closely with creative, media, and strategy teams to deliver integrated solutions, leveraging WPP’s Open platform to drive efficiency and creative excellence. Your team will see you as someone that leads by example and champions a positive working environment that allows brilliant, AI-augmented work to flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead key projects day-to-day, serving as the client’s first port of call and ensuring clear, decisive, and thoughtful direction.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted client relationships, gaining a deep understanding of their business, brand, pressures, and objectives.
- Interpret, question, and challenge client briefs where necessary to ensure clarity and strategic alignment, inspiring breakthrough creative work.
- Partner with creative and media teams to drive forward impactful creative, setting the work up for success and confidently selling ideas to the client.
- Oversee project timelines and quality control, using healthy paranoia to ensure all work is on-brand, correct, and without error.
- Manage project financials, including creating thorough cost estimates, managing budgets, tracking overburn, and handling reconciliation from client POs through to final invoicing.
- Identify out-of-scope opportunities and negotiate project fees with clients where appropriate.
- Build strong working relationships with internal creative, planning, and wider account teams to help drive the agency's culture and identity.
- Effectively manage upwards, solving most problems independently but escalating to senior management when required.

Key Skills
- Client Relationship: Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and extending senior client relationships, acting as a trusted partner who understands the client's business, goals, and motivations.
- Integrated Project Management: Extensive experience leading complex projects at an integrated agency, with a great understanding of social, digital, CRM, and video production processes.
- Creative & Strategic Acumen: A passion for creativity and the ability to think strategically, bringing insight to discussions and refocusing teams with strong persuasion and negotiation skills. You should be on the pulse of industry trends and creative technology.
- Commercial Astuteness: Strong financial management skills, including experience with project costing, budget management, tracking profitability, and identifying commercial opportunities.
- AI & Technology Acumen: A good understanding of how data, AI, and technology can enhance the creative process and campaign effectiveness. Familiarity with AI-powered workflows and platforms is a distinct advantage.
- Stakeholder Management: The ability to build strong working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, juggling numerous tasks at once and delegating effectively to ensure high-quality output.
