Role Summary

An Account Director at Battenhall is responsible for client service and delivery across a number of global and local retained clients and projects with a social media and/or PR focus. They are experienced and passionate about the industry, have a depth of specialist knowledge, and a keen interest in training and upskilling colleagues and line reports. Account Directors lead our client work as an agency, unlocking growth potential from a client and business perspective.

Responsibilities

Working as part of a fast growing, global team, an Account Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Growth and retention across a varied portfolio of new and existing retained clients and project work, across multiple industries, sectors and markets.
  • Directing and overseeing internal teams, task flows and client delivery, including SOWs, timelines, and internal reporting, ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget, without ever compromising on quality or creativity.
  • Advising clients, offering strategic counsel, and continuing to nurture client relationships.
  • Ability to support clients through crises and issues, taking a leading, advisory role with a solutions-focus.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling abilities, with confidence translating complex ideas into clear, engaging client recommendations.
  • Activity analysis, measurement, and KPI tracking to ensure goals and objectives are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • When required, confidence in pivoting the strategy or approach, based on data and insights.
  • Bringing strategic planning and creative thinking to life on social media and PR accounts, leading by example and encouraging best practice.
  • Supporting Client Leads with detailed business processes and administration including resourcing, scoping, finances, billing, and contracts.
  • Line managing Account Managers/ Senior Account Executives, helping to develop their learning and understanding of client and Battenhall business ways of working.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for growth and being actively involved in the new business process from networking, to proposal writing, to pitching.
  • Reporting to and seeking guidance from Client Leads and the Senior Leadership team.

  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced creative, digital, social media, or PR agency.
  • Experience working across multiple industries and sectors, with a great client network, would be highly valued.
  • Experience collaborating across international teams and navigating fast-moving, multi-market client environments.
  • Confident in your abilities, regularly sharing insight around your specialist skills and delivering talks / keynote sessions both internally and externally.
  • Outstanding ability to scope, sell-in and execute large-scale social media, PR, design, and paid media strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong team and project management skills, including the ability to manage complex multi-market projects, teams and budgets.
  • Approachable, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and motivate internal teams.
  • Finger on the pulse of popular culture, social media trends and the news agenda.
  • Proactively identifying improvements to ways of working and collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to implement positive change.
  • Ability to work across multiple global accounts at the same time.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter approach with an eagerness to develop director skills.
  • Commercially minded and a natural problem solver, motivated by success and growth.
