Job Description

Digital Account Director

Full Time

Portland is seeking an Account Director to lead high-quality digital communications for clients across sectors and markets. You will be the senior day-to-day digital adviser: connecting business and communications objectives to audience-led channel strategy, disciplined delivery and continual optimisation.

What success looks like

  • Trusted client counsel that sets and executes digital strategy in line with stakeholder needs and organisational priorities.
  • Integrated programmes that bring together organic social, paid media, web & SEO, influencer and content into one clear influence programme.
  • Digital campaigns delivered on time, on budget and with meaningful performance insight.
  • Practical, responsible advice on AI-enabled communications and generative-engine optimisation (GEO).
  • A collaborative digital team that grows its capability through coaching, experimentation and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital strategies for clients across industries and markets, ensuring they are audience-led, integrated and aligned to wider communications objectives.
  • Advise clients on how to use their digital assets and channels most effectively to reach priority stakeholders and target audiences.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of integrated digital campaigns across clients' owned, earned and paid channels.
  • Oversee the delivery of client digital communications, including social media, websites and other online platforms, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Devise and execute paid media strategies across LinkedIn, Meta and Google.
  • Develop and deliver influencer engagement strategies, from identifying the right partners through to activation, management and evaluation.
  • Lead GEO audits and translate findings into practical recommendations that strengthen visibility and performance across client channels and content.
  • Provide clear, practical counsel on the appropriate and responsible use of AI in communications, including opportunities to optimise content and workflows.
  • Manage the digital elements of client issues and crises, including rapid response, online reputation management and recovery activity.
  • Support new-business pitches and proposals with compelling digital insight, strategy and delivery plans.
  • Help build Portland's understanding of, and capability in, innovative communications through knowledge sharing, coaching and collaboration.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
