We’re working with an established independent digital marketing agency looking to hire an experienced Account Director to join their growing client services team.
This is a senior, commercially focused role where you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of clients, with responsibility for client relationships, retention, renewals and account growth. You’ll act as a trusted strategic partner to your clients, helping them understand the commercial impact of their digital marketing activity and identifying opportunities to strengthen and expand the relationship.
You’ll also have the opportunity to lead a large, high-profile multi-channel account, working closely with a senior stakeholder group and coordinating internal specialists across multiple digital disciplines.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own and develop a portfolio of agency clients, taking responsibility for retention, renewals and revenue growth.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, including founders, directors and senior marketing teams.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts through additional services and increased activity.
- Lead strategic reviews and client meetings, clearly communicating performance, commercial impact and future recommendations.
- Manage a large, multi-channel account involving senior stakeholders and multiple internal delivery teams.
- Work closely with specialists across SEO, Paid Media, Social, Content and Digital PR to ensure activity remains aligned with client objectives.
- Monitor account performance, revenue, renewal confidence and potential churn risks.
- Lead renewal conversations and proactively manage accounts that may be at risk.
- Contribute to new business opportunities, pitches and client proposals where required.

What they're looking for:
You’ll have 5+ years’ experience managing a portfolio of clients within a digital agency environment, with your performance measured against client retention and account growth, rather than simply project delivery or client satisfaction.
You should be able to demonstrate clear examples of an account you have successfully retained or saved when it was at risk, as well as an account you have successfully grown.
You’ll also ideally have:

- Strong knowledge of digital marketing, with enough hands-on understanding of areas such as SEO, Paid Media, Social, Content and Digital PR to confidently discuss strategy with clients.
- Experience managing senior client relationships and handling challenging commercial conversations.
- A strong understanding of commercial and performance metrics, with the ability to translate marketing results into meaningful business outcomes.
- Experience within sectors such as ecommerce, B2B lead generation, beauty/wellbeing or financial services would be advantageous.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with a genuine focus on helping clients grow and demonstrating the value of their agency partnership.
This role would suit an established Account Director who enjoys being much more than an account handler. You’ll be expected to understand your clients’ businesses, challenge them when appropriate and play a key role in ensuring they continue to see genuine commercial value from their agency relationship.
