Our client are looking for an experienced experiential events Account Director to join their growing experiential marketing and events business.
Hybrid: 2 days in Harpenden office, 3 days remote.
As Account Director, you will lead high-profile client accounts, drive account growth, and oversee complex, live experiential activations. You will manage junior team members, bridge creative strategy with practical production delivery, and take full financial ownership of multi-project budgets.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities of Experiential Account Director:
- Client Strategy & Retention: Serve as the senior lead across assigned accounts, building long-term relationships, translating client objectives into actionable briefs, and unlocking repeat business opportunities.
- Financial Management & Growth: Full commercial ownership of account P&Ls. Oversee campaign budgeting, revenue forecasting, expenditure sign-offs, margin optimization, and final reconciliations.
- Team Leadership & Development: Line-manage Account Managers and Account Executives, run regular 1-to-1s, conduct biannual performance reviews, identify training opportunities. Manage freelance staff sourcing, contract preparation and briefing.
- Production & Event Delivery: Partner closely with production teams ensuring client’s needs are met and work is carried out to a high standard.
- Supplier Management: Venue sourcing, contract negotiations, site logistics, and custom structural builds. Oversee all event Health & Safety requirements, RAMS, and local compliance.
- Pitching & Creative Input: Full project ownership, budget management, collaborate on creative deck builds, balancing creative concepts with real-world delivery budgets. Presenting directly to clients and prospective clients.

Ideally, you will have:

- Minimum 6+ years of agency experience in experiential marketing, live events, or FMCG brand activations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale campaign budgets (£250k–£1m+) and driving agency profit margins and growth.
- Ability to understand and respond to client’s strategy and unlock future opportunities, as well as driving new business.
- Experience in direct line management, team development, and freelance resourcing.
- Ability to build effective relationships with others and champion collaborative ways of working both internally and with clients.
- Deep operational knowledge of custom builds, mass sampling, venue management, logistics, and live-event H&S compliance.
- Excellent pitching, deck-writing, and client presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and attend overnight or weekend live event setups as required.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
