Account Director
12 Month Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover
Reports to: Group Account Director
This is a 12 month fixed term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. We are looking for an experienced Account Director who can step confidently into an existing team and client portfolio from day one. Previous experience working on a freelance, interim or fixed term basis as an Account Director would be a strong advantage, along with the ability to work autonomously and deliver impact quickly for the duration of the contract.
The role would suit candidates with experience in Cardiometabolic Health or Cardiovascular therapy areas, though those from other therapeutic backgrounds are equally encouraged to apply.
Members of our team enjoy a high degree of autonomy in their work, and with this responsibility comes opportunities to form key working relationships with colleagues in the account management, creative and digital teams, as well as develop collaborative partnerships with clients and key opinion leaders. Importantly, the Account Director will employ their own subject matter knowledge and experience in overseeing complex projects, and direct the talents of their team to add real value to our clients.
You will manage and develop client accounts, including global and affiliate market programmes, successfully delivering high quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations while achieving financial targets for the accounts. You will bring strong business development experience, taking responsibility for identifying and winning new business, raising Scientific Group's profile and developing revenue growth opportunities. Experience of leading product or brand launch activity, and of working closely with both commercial and medical affairs client teams, will be highly valued. This role also comes with line management responsibility for a team, and reports directly to the Group Account Director.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
