About the Company:
An established independent insurance broker with a strong presence across the UK commercial insurance market. The business specialises in providing tailored insurance and risk solutions to corporate clients, supported by broad access to insurers and the London market. It has an established Corporate Division and a reputation for combining technical expertise with a relationship-led approach to clients.
Role Summary:
This is a senior opportunity for an experienced commercial insurance professional to join an established Corporate Division as a Client Director.
You’ll take responsibility for developing and retaining key corporate relationships, generating new business and working closely with insurer partners, while also helping to develop the Account Executives working beneath you.
The role has a strong leadership element without moving you away from clients. You’ll remain commercially active while sharing your experience with Account Executives, helping them develop technically, improve their client management and take greater ownership of their portfolios.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership and contribute to the wider performance and development of the division. The underlying job specification also places emphasis on business-plan delivery, service standards, insurer relationships and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop corporate client relationships: Take ownership of key accounts, understand changing risk requirements and ensure clients receive a consistently high level of service.
- Develop new business: Generate opportunities through existing relationships, referrals, introductions and your wider professional network, allowing you to directly contribute to the growth of the division.
- Support and develop Account Executives: Work closely with Account Executives beneath you, sharing technical knowledge, supporting them on more complex accounts and helping them strengthen their client management, broking and commercial capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance: Use your experience to support colleagues where more complex insurance, placement or client issues arise, giving you the opportunity to influence standards across the wider team.
- Shape client insurance programmes: Work with broking colleagues to ensure risks are presented effectively and placed with appropriate insurers and markets.
- Develop insurer relationships: Maintain strong relationships with the existing insurer panel and identify alternative or additional markets where this improves outcomes for clients.
The original specification also includes responsibility for supporting claims matters, overseeing the accuracy and breadth of policy documentation, maintaining service standards and contributing to divisional targets and budgets.

Requirements:
- Strong background in commercial or corporate insurance broking, ideally within a senior client-facing position
- Proven ability to manage and develop substantial client relationships
- Experience generating new business through relationships, referrals or a professional network
- Ability to support, guide and develop Account Executives or other insurance professionals
- Strong insurer relationships and understanding of the commercial insurance market
- Good understanding of FCA requirements and working within a regulated environment
- Minimum Cert CII qualification, with a commitment to ongoing professional development
- Strong communication, organisation and delegation skills
