Account Director
Remote UK | Medical Communications | Client Services
Our client is going through an exciting period of growth and are looking for an experienced Account Director to join their Client Services team and take ownership of key client accounts, programme strategy, commercial delivery, and team leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Account Manager or Account Director who is ready to take genuine ownership of client relationships and move further into strategic leadership. The agency works exclusively across medical affairs, partnering with pharmaceutical clients on scientifically complex programmes across a range of therapeutic areas and deliverables.
The Opportunity
As Account Director, you will lead the day-to-day strategy and delivery of your accounts, acting as a trusted senior adviser to clients and taking responsibility for programme budgets, forecasts, quality, and team performance. You will work closely with the Scientific team to ensure programmes are both scientifically rigorous and strategically robust, while collaborating with Design & Digital, Meetings & Events, Finance, and wider senior leadership. You will also play an important role in growing existing accounts and winning new business, with the opportunity to contribute to pitches, proposals, and strategic client conversations.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead client relationships and provide confident, strategic counsel across assigned accounts.
- Communicate programme objectives, risks, and strategic recommendations directly to clients.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant therapeutic areas, market developments, and competitor activity.
- Own the account plan for assigned clients, including account activity, future opportunities, resource planning, and potential recruitment requirements.
- Own or oversee programme budgets, proposals, budget summaries, and reconciliations.
- Take accountability for financial performance, forecasting, and end-of-month reporting across your accounts.
- Ensure projects are delivered professionally, effectively, and within agreed scope and budget.
- Line manage members of the Client Services team across your accounts.
- Play an active role in new business pitches, proposals, and presentations.

About You
- Solid experience within a medical communications or medical education agency.
- Proven project management skills and strong commercial awareness.
- Experience managing client relationships and providing strategic counsel.
- Experience working across a range of therapeutic areas and client deliverables, ideally within a global environment.
- Proven line management experience.
- The confidence and gravitas to represent an agency directly with senior clients.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and project finances.
- The ability to identify scope, budget, and client relationship risks and deal with them proactively.
