Account Director (New Business) | Acumen Cyber
Remote, UK-wide · Uncapped OTE, private healthcare, pension
The title says Account Director but let's be clear about what this is. It's a new business sales role. We want someone who generates their own pipeline, wins new customers then keeps and grows them.
Acumen is a CREST-accredited 24/7 managed SOC/MDR provider. We're a scale-up, we move quickly and we've built something that genuinely stands apart in a noisy market. This isn't a big machine where you're one of forty reps fighting over the same accounts. You'll own your patch, run it your way and be paid well for doing it properly.
What you'll do
- Sell into mid-market, enterprise and public sector.
- You own the whole thing, from prospecting and the first conversation through to close and then you stay close to those customers to retain and grow them.
- We're not looking for people who wait for leads to land or who sign a deal and disappear.
- The best people here build their pipeline and build their accounts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Why it's worth your time
- The proposition is strong and properly differentiated, which is why our win rates are high.
- The story is easy to tell and prospects get it.
- You'll sell into a customer base that's happy to be referenced.
- When someone asks who else you work with, you'll have real names and real advocates to point them to.
- Marketing will back you with awareness and activity that supports your own efforts. It helps, but the business is still yours to drive.
- The money is real. OTE is uncapped and the people who perform here earn very well.
Who we're looking for
- You've got a solid B2B tech sales background and a track record of winning new business.
- Cyber experience isn't essential.
- What matters is that you've consistently beaten target and you know how to build pipeline from a standing start rather than living off inbound.
- You're a self-starter. This is the one we won't budge on. The business will back you, but you need to go and make things happen without being told.
- If you need a lot of structure around you, this won't suit.
- Ideally you've done this in a scale-up, so you already know what fast-paced and hands-on actually feels like.
- Happy to travel, as you'd expect in a sales role.

Worth being honest about
- It's a demanding job in a business that moves fast. Some weeks are full on.
- But you'll have the proposition, the references, the marketing support and the freedom to run your patch how you see fit.
This is a genuinely exciting time to join Acumen. We're growing fast, the culture is strong and the people here are the real deal. You'll be selling a proposition and a story that stand up to anyone in the market, with the earning potential to match. If you're the kind of person who wants to build something and be rewarded properly for it, we'd love to hear from you.
