Account Director – Nuclear / Water Treatment

Location: Whitehaven, Cumbria – on site approximately two to three days per week. Applications welcome from candidates living within around two hours’ drive.

Hours: Full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Strong customer relationships, reliable technical delivery and sound commercial decisions. This role brings all three together within the nuclear industry.

PTSG Water Treatment is looking for an Account Director to take ownership of a major contract in Cumbria, overseeing specialist water management services supporting cooling systems, including water chemistry control and pH monitoring.

You’ll be the person who understands the customer’s priorities, brings the right people together and keeps the contract performing. From senior customer meetings to operational reviews and commercial planning, your decisions will shape both the service we deliver today and the relationship we build for the future.

As PTSG Water Treatment continues to grow, this is an opportunity to take on a significant account with visibility across our senior leadership team.

Your role

Reporting to senior leadership, you’ll hold overall responsibility for the customer relationship, contract delivery and financial performance.

Spending approximately two to three days each week on site in the Whitehaven area, you’ll work closely with the customer and our operational teams to maintain standards, resolve challenges and identify opportunities to improve the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the customer relationship: becoming the principal contact for senior stakeholders, chairing contract reviews and handling escalations with confidence.
  • Overseeing technical delivery: working with specialist teams to ensure cooling-water treatment, water chemistry monitoring and wider water hygiene services meet contractual requirements.
  • Owning commercial performance: managing margins, costs, forecasting and invoicing accuracy, including timely daily billing of reactive works.
  • Keeping teams aligned: chairing weekly reviews with Operations and Group Key Accounts, turning performance information into clear actions and executive reporting.
  • Maintaining compliance: overseeing applicable water hygiene requirements, including ACoP L8, HSG274 and relevant SFG maintenance guidance.
  • Managing risk: owning the contract risk register, driving mitigation actions through to completion and keeping the account ready for audits and inspections.
  • Developing the account: leading renewal and retender discussions, reviewing significant quotations and identifying appropriate opportunities to expand our services.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
