Account Director
£40,000+ base + £10,000–£20,000 commission | Manchester / Flexible
I'm working with a growing B2B business looking for an Account Director to take ownership of an established client portfolio and lead its Account Management team.
This is a leadership role with responsibility for a portfolio that has revenue, retention and performance targets attached to it. The Account Managers manage the day-to-day client relationships, while you'll oversee the wider portfolio, drive performance and step in when an account needs senior support.
What you'll be doing
- Owning the portfolio
- Taking commercial responsibility across revenue, retention, renewals, and growth
- Understanding the health and performance of each account and identifying where intervention is needed
- Acting as the senior relationship for key accounts and escalation point when required
Leading the Account Management team
- Overseeing, coaching, and developing a team of Account Managers
- Running regular 1-2-1s, account reviews, and renewal reviews
- Supporting the team with underperforming campaigns and difficult client conversations
- Setting standards across client reporting and overall account performance

Performance & commercial
- Monitoring delivery against client targets, including meetings booked, lead quality, and attendance
- Identifying why campaigns aren't performing, whether that's targeting, data, messaging, activity, or the client's proposition
- Leading renewals, extensions, and changes in scope
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts
- Spotting at-risk clients early and putting plans in place to protect revenue
- Working with senior leadership on pricing, contracts, and commercial decisions
What we're looking for
The key requirement is experience in a B2B outbound sales environment where cold calling has been a core part of the sales process. You won't personally be making the calls in this role, but you need to have done it yourself and understand what good outbound looks like.

You'll also need:
- Strong B2B sales or Account Management experience
- Experience owning a portfolio or book of business with responsibility for retention, renewals, and growth
- A good understanding of outbound campaign performance, including targeting, activity, meetings, and conversion
- Confidence using data to understand why an account or campaign isn't performing
- Experience handling difficult conversations with both clients and internal teams
- Ideally, experience overseeing multiple client campaigns and/or managing Account Managers
Package
- £40,000+ base, negotiable for the right person
- £10,000–£20,000 commission
- Manchester ideally, with flexibility around hybrid/remote working and travel into Manchester when required.
