Commercial Account Executive
Doncaster | Hybrid Working | Substantial Existing Portfolio | c£70,000 + Car Allowance / Excellent Benefits
Looking for an Account Executive opportunity where you can inherit a significant, established portfolio with a mix of some interesting risks, including Aerospace?
We’re working with a leading insurance broker in Doncaster that is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Account Executive as part of its long-term succession planning.
The successful individual will inherit an established portfolio generating approximately £300,000 in annual income, currently managed by an experienced Account Executive who is planning to retire in Summer 2027, which will hopefully give sufficient time for a thorough handover.
Alongside managing and developing the existing portfolio, you'll have the opportunity to generate new business and continue growing and shaping the book over the longer term.
The Opportunity
You'll take responsibility for building trusted relationships with commercial clients across a range of sectors, acting as a genuine adviser and helping them understand and manage their insurance and risk requirements.
You'll work closely with an established broking operation, insurer partners and specialist teams, giving you the support to concentrate on your clients, retention and portfolio development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
