Job: Commercial Account Executive
Location: London/ Hybrid
Salary: c£60,000 + Bonus Structure
We are working with a growing and ambitious insurance business who are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Insurance Account Executive to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded insurance professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, managing a varied portfolio and generating new business.
The successful candidate will take ownership of an established portfolio of mid-market commercial clients across a range of industry sectors, while also playing an active role in developing new business opportunities and growing existing relationships.
The Role
As an Account Executive, you will be responsible for delivering a high level of service to your clients, providing technically sound insurance advice and ensuring their insurance requirements are fully understood and appropriately managed.
You will work closely with clients throughout the insurance lifecycle, from fact-finding and programme design through to renewals, mid-term reviews and new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of an established portfolio of mid-market commercial insurance clients across a range of industry sectors.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular contact, renewals, mid-term reviews and strategic account development.
- Conduct detailed fact-finds to understand client operations, exposures and insurance requirements.
- Provide technically sound advice and guidance on commercial insurance programmes and solutions.
- Prepare and present renewal strategies, market submissions and insurance programme recommendations.
- Liaise and negotiate with insurers to secure competitive terms, appropriate cover and risk management solutions.
- Analyse policy wordings, endorsements and schedules to ensure suitable cover is in place.
- Manage the renewal process from initial review through to placement.
- Support clients with claims and act as a trusted point of contact throughout the process.
- Ensure all client documentation is accurate, compliant and delivered within agreed timescales.

New Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, introducers, and existing relationships.
- Develop opportunities to cross-sell and grow existing client accounts.
- Prepare new business presentations and proposals for prospective clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with professional introducers and other key contacts.
- Work towards agreed new business, growth and retention targets.
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate and complete client records in line with FCA requirements and internal procedures.
- Ensure all business is handled in accordance with compliance, conduct risk and Treating Customers Fairly principles.
- Maintain a high standard of documentation and record keeping.
- Keep up to date with market developments, product changes and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the continued development and improvement of processes within the team.

About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- A minimum of 5 years' commercial insurance experience.
- At least 3 years' experience as an Account Executive, Senior Account Handler or in a similar client-facing commercial broking role.
- Strong knowledge of mid-market commercial insurance products and the broking lifecycle.
- Experience managing and developing client relationships.
- A proven ability to generate and convert new business opportunities.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience dealing directly with insurers and clients.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Cert CII, Dip CII or working towards a relevant qualification would be advantageous.
- A proactive, commercially minded and client-focused approach.
