Account Manager — Mobile Phone Distribution

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme

Job type: Full-time, on-site

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm

Founded in 1991 as Halstone Mobile Phones, Halstone Mobile & Technology is an established independent mobile phone sub-distributor serving trade customers nationwide. With 35 years of industry experience, we combine dedicated account management with sales support, finance, and logistics to provide a reliable, responsive service to our trade partners.

About the Role

You will manage and grow a portfolio of trade accounts, building strong customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

As your customers’ main point of contact, you will handle enquiries about pricing, stock availability, quotations, and orders. Working closely with our sales support, finance, and logistics teams, you will help ensure orders are processed efficiently and customers receive a consistently high level of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop existing trade accounts, encouraging repeat business and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Build relationships with prospective trade customers and convert enquiries into active accounts.
  • Provide accurate quotations and up-to-date information on products, pricing, and stock availability.
  • Proactively communicate new stock, offers, and product launches to customers.
  • Work towards agreed monthly sales and gross profit targets through account development, proactive follow-up, and new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on order processing, deliveries, account queries, and after-sales support.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, and follow-up notes in our ACT! database.
  • Monitor account performance and represent Halstone professionally in every customer interaction.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in account management, trade sales, or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence speaking with customers over the phone and following up on sales opportunities.
  • A proactive, organized approach with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence discussing pricing and margins.
  • Good attention to detail when preparing quotations and processing orders.
  • Experience in mobile phones, telecommunications, or distribution is advantageous.

Training & Support

Full training will be provided by our experienced management team and senior staff, covering our products, processes, and interactive database. You will also have support from our dedicated sales support, finance, and logistics teams.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary, based on relevant experience.
  • Commission paid monthly, linked to sales performance against agreed targets.
  • 20 days’ annual leave, increasing by one day for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 25 days.
  • Bank holidays off in addition to annual leave, as the business is closed on bank holidays.
  • Monday-to-Friday working hours, 9:00am–5:30pm.
