Overview
Microsoft is seeking a strategic sales leader to own and grow high-value relationships across the heart of UK Central Government, supporting key departments and public bodies in their missions to drive economic growth and build a modern, secure and digitally enabled government that serves citizens, communities and the country.
This is a high-trust role operating at the intersection of strategic account leadership, customer outcomes, commercial growth and complex stakeholder management.
The successful candidate will lead Microsoft’s engagement across a central government customer portfolio and its partner ecosystem, turning long-term partnership ambitions into measurable customer value, sustainable growth and repeatable patterns that can scale across the wider Public Sector.
Responsibilities

Own the strategic account plan and sales execution
- Build and own a clear account strategy and plan for the customer portfolio, underpinned by disciplined pipeline management, accurate forecasting and consistent sales execution.
- Create new demand, progress opportunities through robust close plans, and lead complex commercial agreements and renewals to successful outcomes.
- Consistently achieve or exceed revenue, Azure consumption, Copilot, AI and security adoption, renewal and customer success objectives, supported by accurate and well-evidenced forecasting.

Lead v-team sales excellence
- Orchestrate a virtual team spanning solution specialists, technical architects, customer success, services, partners, commercial and legal colleagues.
- Establish clear ownership, a consistent rhythm of business and shared win plans so that the team operates as one Microsoft around the customer’s priorities.

Build and maintain trusted customer relationships
- Develop deep, trusted relationships with senior civil servants, digital leaders including CIOs, CTOs and CDOs, and commercial and security leaders.
- Act as the accountable Microsoft executive for the account, ensuring the customer experiences one joined-up Microsoft and sees us as a strategic partner in delivering its priorities.

Drive strategic growth and opportunity creation
- Identify, qualify and shape new opportunities across cloud, AI, data, security and modern work, landing new workloads that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
- Build partner-led and co-sell motions that extend Microsoft’s reach, increase capability and accelerate customer outcomes.

Build strategic relationships at the heart of Government
- Secure executive sponsorship and align Microsoft leadership with customer priorities.
- Connect customer-specific opportunities to wider government priorities, helping establish successful approaches and patterns that can be replicated across departments where appropriate.
Qualifications
Required qualifications
- Experience in Public sector enterprise & strategic sales or account management, with a track record of consistently achieving or exceeding target.
- Proven success in creating, shaping and closing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities in the public sector or other regulated environments.
- Experience leading virtual teams through influence rather than line authority.
- Demonstrated ability to build credible relationships with senior executives and translate their priorities into clear, actionable account strategies.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience selling and consulting into UK Central Government
- Understanding of UK public-sector procurement and commercial frameworks, spending cycles, and government digital, data and security priorities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft’s cloud, AI, security, data and modern work portfolio.
- Experience with enterprise agreements, Azure consumption growth and partner-led delivery.

Pay
Account Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across United Kingdom is £ 95,300.00 - £ 136,100.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
