What we’re all about:

Cavendish is all about talented people, delivering excellent results for our clients. We are a multi-award-winning, PR Week Top 150 agency, PRCA’s Large Consultancy of the Year and are the UK’s number one agency for public affairs.

Within corporate affairs, we advise a wide range of Scottish, UK and international clients on political, policy and reputational challenges. Our team works across Holyrood, Westminster, Whitehall, the other devolved institutions, local government and the wider stakeholder landscape to help clients navigate risk, build influence and secure outcomes.

We believe in sourcing talent from diverse backgrounds, nurturing a company culture that leads to a strong work-life balance, and strengthening it by providing great learning and development opportunities.

What you will get from us:

You’ll have the opportunity to take your career to the next level, working with dynamic, talented people in a fast-paced and expanding organisation. Alongside a competitive salary, we provide extensive training and development opportunities and an industry-leading benefits package including:

  • Access to mentorship from some of the best minds in the industry.
  • Industry-leading allocation of paid time off.
  • Private Medical Insurance.
  • Regular social and team-building events.
  • Paid time off to volunteer for a charity.

What we are looking for:

You are naturally curious. You consume politics because you enjoy it, not because you must. You follow parliamentary debates and understand the machinery of government, but you're equally fascinated by the forces shaping society beyond Holyrood and Westminster.

You have opinions about how artificial intelligence will change trust and influence. You understand why societal polarisation matters to brands. You can see how a culture war issue might affect an organisation's reputation just as confidently as you can follow a Bill progressing through Parliament.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You are excited by complexity.

You recognise that organisations increasingly operate in contested environments shaped by political fragmentation, technological disruption and changing public expectations. You enjoy helping leaders navigate those challenges.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience in politics, policy, public affairs or corporate affairs. This could include, but is not limited to, an MP/MSP’s office, the civil service, a political party or a public affairs agency.
  • Are deeply interested in politics, policy and current affairs beyond the daily headlines, in both UK-wide and Scottish contexts.
  • Recognise how societal polarisation, attention dynamics and technological change can impact organisations and brands.
  • Are curious about AI and excited by how it can transform the way we work.
  • Can move comfortably between discussions about legislation, regulation, reputation and culture.
  • Build trusted relationships quickly and communicate with authority.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and stellar organisational skills.
  • Are ambitious, collaborative and eager to shape the future of corporate affairs.

This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to report on politics.

It's for someone who wants to help organisations make better decisions in a world that is increasingly complex, contested and constantly changing.

What you’ll need to do:

You will act as part of a wider account team, reporting into the Head of Government Relations for Scotland and supporting across a portfolio of corporate affairs clients. You will support teams and clients in identifying what is happening across the world of politics which will have an impact on them. You will work to deliver engagement across the political landscape for your clients.

Your specific duties will include:

  • Acting as a core member of account teams, supporting the delivery of corporate affairs and government relations strategies.
  • Monitoring for key political developments and helping clients to understand what they mean for their organisation and how they should respond.
  • Undertaking research projects and providing insight into key policy areas or key political individuals and influencers.
  • Looking to support clients across political, media and digital engagement.
  • Using your network across Holyrood and the media to support insight gathering, stakeholder engagement and profile-building activity for clients. A network in Westminster and Whitehall would be an added bonus.
  • Supporting new business opportunities, contributing to proposals and pitches, and helping grow existing accounts through strong client relationships and strategic thinking.
