About the Role

Aptean is looking for an outstanding Account Executive to join our Merlin ERP sales team in the UK. Merlin is Aptean’s long-established ERP solution serving distribution, merchanting, wholesale and light manufacturing businesses across the UK and Ireland. It is a strategically important product line with a loyal customer base and a strong growth focus around new customer acquisition, solution expansion, and SaaS adoption. This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for a commercially driven sales professional who excels at winning new business and positioning ERP solutions as mission-critical platforms for growing organisations.

The Account Executive is responsible for net-new customer acquisition, pursuing greenfield opportunities, and guiding prospects through a consultative sales process to select Merlin ERP as the best-fit solution for their business. You will plan, develop and execute sales strategies to achieve an established quota, working closely with Solution Consultants, Professional Services, Marketing and Leadership to deliver value-led, outcome-focused sales engagements. Frequent travel to customer sites and industry events is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, qualify and sell Merlin ERP and associated modules into a defined UK territory to achieve quota
  • Own monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets, including new logo acquisition
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline, with strong emphasis on self-generated opportunities
  • Execute a structured, consultative sales process that consistently drives results
  • Work closely with Solution Consultants to develop customer-specific value propositions and deliver tailored product demonstrations
  • Manage forecasts, pipeline hygiene and deal progression through regular forecast and deal review cadence
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders across Sales, Professional Services, Product and Finance to support deal execution, contracting and handover
  • Actively participate in industry events, customer meetings and marketing initiatives
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the distribution, merchanting and manufacturing sectors, including customer challenges and market trends
  • Use customer insight and market feedback to provide input into product direction and go-to-market strategy

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
