Private Client Account Handler – High Net Worth

Location: South West London

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience, plus benefits

The Company:

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded insurance broker with a dedicated private client division looking after high net worth individuals and families. They combine a personal, local service with the specialist expertise and insurer relationships of a much larger business. The team is collaborative, supportive and genuinely invested in doing things well, with an open culture where ideas for improvement are encouraged and an ambition to be the best at what they do.

The Role:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Account Handler to join a growing high net worth team. You will take ownership of an established book of private clients and manage it independently from end to end, with colleagues on hand for support when you need it. Day to day you will be handling renewals, processing mid-term adjustments, dealing with new business enquiries, marketing risks and negotiating terms with insurers, along with the administration that goes with each account. Premiums are typically in the £5,000 – £10,000 range, with some above and below, covering the full breadth of a high net worth client’s home, contents, valuables, motor and lifestyle risks. Client contact is a mix of desk-based work and face-to-face visits, which are encouraged wherever clients want them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a genuinely client-facing role where you will be trusted to own your relationships and make a real difference to your clients. You will have the backing of a wider business with specialist teams to cross-sell and refer into, so you can offer your clients far more than a single policy. The team also gets involved in networking and client events, giving you the chance to raise your profile and build your network. For someone who already knows high net worth and wants to join a team where mindset, energy and ideas are valued as much as technical ability, this is a great move and could provide an excellent platform for your career.

The Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a high net worth private client account handler or broker
  • Confident managing a book independently, including renewals, mid-term adjustments, new business, market negotiation and full account administration
  • Strong technical knowledge of high net worth home ideally including, contents, fine art and valuables, and motor cover
  • Excellent client relationship skills, comfortable both on the phone and meeting clients face to face
  • A positive, energetic mindset and a collaborative approach to working in a team
  • It is encouraged to get involved in networking and client events, some of which may take place outside normal hours
  • Commercially aware, with an eye for cross-selling and referral opportunities
