About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Account Handler to join our specialist Bloodstock & Livestock Insurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance professional with strong technical expertise and a genuine interest in the equine, bloodstock, livestock, and agricultural sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, supporting new business and renewal activities, and providing exceptional service throughout the policy lifecycle. In addition, the role includes providing strategic administrative support to the Managing Director, requiring exceptional organisational, prioritisation, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
New Business & Quotations
- Manage new business enquiries across bloodstock and livestock risks, including mortality, loss of use, transit, infertility/barrenness, and specie cover where applicable.
- Prepare accurate quotations in line with insurer appetite and market terms.
- Liaise with insurers and MGAs to secure competitive and appropriate coverage solutions.
- Present terms, conditions, exclusions, and cover options clearly to clients and brokers.
- Ensure all new business data, valuations, and supporting documentation are accurately recorded.

Renewals
- Proactively manage the renewal pipeline and engage with clients ahead of renewal dates.
- Gather updated risk information, including valuations, claims experience, ownership changes, and location amendments.
- Negotiate renewal terms with insurers and underwriters.
- Prepare and process renewal documentation accurately and within agreed service standards.
- Process and record policy amendments and endorsements in accordance with company procedures.
Client & Market Relationships
- Act as a professional and knowledgeable point of contact for policyholders, breeders, studs, and industry stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurers, underwriters, and market contacts.
- Attend client meetings, bloodstock sales, agricultural shows, and industry events as required.
- Respond to client queries promptly and professionally, escalating more complex matters when necessary.
Managing Director Support
- Manage the Managing Director's diary, coordinating meetings, appointments, and business commitments.
- Arrange travel and accommodation for the Managing Director and wider team where required.
- Prepare briefing notes, presentations, and supporting documentation for meetings and events.
- Provide general administrative and organisational support.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all policy documentation, quotations, renewals, and endorsements are accurate and compliant with regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records on broking and agency management systems.
- Support internal audits, quality assurance reviews, and compliance-related activities.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience as an Account Handler within bloodstock, livestock, agricultural, rural, or specialist insurance.
- Strong technical knowledge of agricultural insurance products, terminology, and market practices.
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance broking/agency management systems.
- Proficiency in using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to support research, communication, workflow efficiency, and administrative tasks.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the bloodstock, equine, livestock, or wider agricultural sectors.
- Experience attending industry events, sales, and client meetings.
- Understanding of specialist bloodstock and livestock insurance products.
