Reporting To: Sales Director - Account Management

Location: UK

Based at any of our facilities Tyne, Birkenhead, Padstow, Falmouth or Gibraltar with Regular Travel

As we continue to grow as One Balaena, we're looking for an exceptional Account Manager to help strengthen customer relationships, grow existing accounts and maximise the value of our customer portfolio across the Group.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional who thrives on building long-term partnerships, identifying opportunities and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You'll play a key role in driving sustainable growth by working closely with customers across the UK and beyond, developing strategic relationships, securing repeat business and identifying opportunities to expand Balaena's services and capabilities.

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, highly motivated and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. Someone who enjoys being on the road, meeting customers face-to-face, understanding their challenges and turning strong relationships into measurable commercial results. Role Purpose

To manage, retain and grow revenue within Balaena's existing customer base. This is a commercially focused, field-based sales role responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, securing repeat business, identifying growth opportunities and increasing customer value across assigned accounts.

The role holder will act as the primary commercial contact for key customers, ensuring Balaena delivers a professional, coordinated and consistent customer experience while driving revenue growth and customer retention.

Role Environment & Reward

This is a high-performance, target-driven sales role operating within a commission-based reward structure. Success will be measured through revenue growth, customer retention, account expansion, margin achievement, customer engagement activity and delivery of agreed commercial objectives.

The role requires regular travel throughout the UK and internationally where required. Individuals will spend significant time meeting customers, understanding business requirements, identifying opportunities and driving growth across their assigned accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts across Balaena's key markets.
  • Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Develop and implement account growth plans.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services, projects and contract extensions.
  • Increase revenue and profitability within assigned accounts.
  • Drive repeat business, framework opportunities and long-term customer partnerships.
  • Coordinate customer engagement across Balaena businesses and locations.
  • Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned customers.
  • Work closely with Operational, Technical and Commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate account, opportunity and forecasting information within CRM systems.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address commercial risks.
  • Promote the full range of Balaena's services and capabilities to maximise account value.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Proven experience managing and growing customer accounts.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify and convert growth opportunities.
  • Experience operating within customer-facing sales environments.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer relationships simultaneously.
  • Experience within engineering, maritime, defence, fabrication, manufacturing or industrial services preferred.
  • CRM experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
