Job Title: Account Manager – Local Authority

Location: UK based Remote / Field-based with travel.

Job details: Full time, Permanent

Salary: Highly competitive base salary with commission. Full salary disclosed at application.

At Unity5, we are looking for a commercially driven Account Manager to nurture, retain, and expand our valued local government partnerships. In this role, you will become a trusted advisor to Senior Executives and operational leads, representing the voice of our clients internally and delivering tangible value that transforms public services.

What You’ll Do:

Account Management:

  • Nurture and grow a dedicated portfolio of UK local authority clients.
  • Drive retention, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities through proactive account planning.
  • Build deep relationships from operational teams up to senior council leadership.
  • Act as a strategic partner, aligning Unity5’s solutions with local government priorities and compliance frameworks through account plans and objective handling.
  • Orchestrate internal teams (Support, Product, Implementation) to resolve critical issues and advocate for your clients' needs.
  • Manage effective governance for example through regular account review sessions.
  • Facilitate community engagement through user groups, forums, and knowledge-sharing events.

Commercial:

  • Responsibility for the business development and financial performance of Unity5’s client base through a focus on retention, upsell, cross-sell, and providing thought-leadership.
  • Proactively ensure contract renewals are managed in a timely way and that opportunities to up-sell and cross-sell are incorporated as part of this process.
  • Ensure contractual SLAs and obligations specific to the public sector are met, and that reporting reflects the transparency and accountability expected by local authorities.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Implementation team to understand the local authority’s setup, ensuring solutions align with their policies and operational needs.
  • Partner with Support to ensure any service issues faced by councils are addressed quickly and effectively.
  • Be the voice of the local authority client internally - advocating for their needs with Product, Development, and Customer Success teams.
  • Collaborate with our internal Industry specialists to provide clients with deep domain expertise in the Local Authority sector.
  • Support the creation of public sector case studies with Marketing to showcase successful local authority transformations.
  • Engage local authorities in Unity5’s product feedback and roadmap development processes.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3+ years of experience in a commercially focused customer role managing a portfolio of accounts (ideally within the public sector).
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and cross-selling skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills to manage complex client structures and deliver account plans.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence internal teams and lead challenging conversations.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and MS Office/Google Workspace.
  • A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel for client visits.

Desirables:

  • An understanding of the UK local authority operational landscape.
  • Experience in the parking or enforcement sector.
  • Familiarity with Unity5 solutions.
