Dodds and Shute are a design-led procurement company, dedicated to sourcing the most sustainable furniture and lighting. Job purpose:

Account Managers at Dodds & Shute own client relationships and commercial outcomes, delivering design-led projects that balance design intent, cost, and programme while driving account growth and profitability.

Duties and responsibilities:

Sales & Account Management:

  • Manage a portfolio of client accounts with responsibility for achieving a gross profit target.
  • Develop strong client relationships to drive repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Prepare and present client proposals aligned with client needs, budgets, project objectives in line with project design intent.
  • Translate design intent into commercially viable, deliverable solutions, balancing aesthetics, performance, budget and sustainability.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Lead client conversations, shaping requirements, guiding decision-making and positioning Dodds & Shute as a trusted consultant and project partner.
  • Manage client expectations throughout the sales and project lifecycle, communicating clearly and proactively.
  • Comfortable driving account growth and long-term partnerships.
  • Attend networking events.

Commercial Ownership:

  • Own pricing, margin, and project viability.
  • Negotiate effectively with clients and suppliers to deliver strong commercial outcomes and protect margin.

Project Ownership:

  • Define scope, budgets, timelines and deliverables with clients.
  • Lead projects through to successful handover, managing budgets, risks, and multiple client and supplier stakeholders.
  • Own quoting, specification development, and product selection in with Dodds & Shute preferred supply chain.

Team & Process:

  • Direct and prioritise Sales Coordinator support, ensuring workloads and responsibilities are clearly managed.
  • Ensure client, commercial and project information is accurate, complete and maintained within company systems.
  • Provide a clear and comprehensive handover to the Operations team, with scope, responsibilities, risks and client expectations fully defined.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a sales or account management role.
  • Demonstrate excellent furniture knowledge, strong design taste and creative judgement, with the ability to curate products and solutions that elevate the overall scheme.
  • Highly organised across multiple projects; able to manage competing priorities and drive outcomes.
  • Strong commercial judgement and decision-making, comfortable delivering against revenue targets.
  • Comfortable working with systems, data, and spreadsheets.
  • Proactive, adaptable and reliable, with a willingness to take ownership.
  • Positive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
