The Opportunity

My client is looking for an Account Manager to join their growing commercial team.

This isn't a traditional sales role. They have built a successful sales team by recruiting people who understand construction first and teaching them the commercial side of the business.

They're looking for someone with a solid construction background who enjoys working with people, solving problems and building relationships. Whether you're currently an Assistant Site Manager, Estimator, Construction Buyer, Site Supervisor or in another construction-based role, this could be an excellent opportunity to move into a long-term commercial career.

You'll inherit and develop an existing portfolio of customers while also identifying new businesses with strong repeat order potential. The focus is on becoming a trusted partner to your customers, understanding their projects and helping them find the right solutions.

Full product and sales training will be provided.

The Role

Reporting to the Sales Team Leader, you'll be responsible for developing existing customer relationships while identifying and converting new business opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and growing a portfolio of existing customer accounts.
  • Building long-term relationships with contractors, customers and key decision makers.
  • Understanding customers' upcoming projects and identifying opportunities to increase repeat business.
  • Creating account development plans to grow sales, order frequency and profitability.
  • Prospecting and winning new customers with long-term potential.
  • Preparing quotations and following them through to order.
  • Carrying out site visits and surveys where required.
  • Delivering product presentations and demonstrations.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements while protecting profitability.
  • Working closely with estimating, sales support and operations to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales pipelines and forecasts.
  • Keeping up to date with market trends, competitor activity and new product developments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

Sales experience isn't essential.

My client is far more interested in finding someone who understands construction and has the personality to build strong commercial relationships.

You could currently be working as a:

  • Assistant Site Manager
  • Site Supervisor
  • Assistant Project Manager
  • Estimator
  • Construction Buyer
  • Hire Desk Manager
  • Depot Manager

Or another construction related position

You'll ideally have:

  • A good understanding of how construction projects operate.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • A naturally commercial mindset.
  • The ability to influence people and solve problems.
  • Confidence speaking with customers, suppliers and contractors.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The motivation to develop a long-term career in sales.
  • Experience using CRM systems would be beneficial but isn't essential.

What They're Looking For

The successful person will enjoy:

  • Building relationships.
  • Helping customers solve problems.
  • Working closely with suppliers and contractors.
  • Finding commercial opportunities.
  • Learning new products and technical information.
  • Taking ownership of customer accounts.
  • Developing long-term partnerships rather than simply taking orders.

If you've found yourself enjoying the commercial side of construction more than running projects, this could be the ideal next step.

Why Join?

  • Full training and ongoing development.
  • The opportunity to build a long-term commercial career.
  • Join an established and supportive sales team.
  • Work for a business that values construction knowledge as much as sales experience.
  • Excellent progression opportunities as the business continues to grow.
  • Competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a construction background who is looking to move away from site based responsibilities and into a customer-focused commercial role, while remaining within an industry they already know well.
