ACCOUNT MANAGER

The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.

Defence, Aerospace & Advanced Engineering Accounts | Manufacturing Sector

£32,000 - £42,000+ (dependent on experience) + Bonus/Commission + Benefits

South West Midlands / South West England (fully commutable from Bristol, Avon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, West Midlands)

Relationship-Led Account Management | Warm, Qualified Accounts - No Cold Calling | No Travel Required

Our client is a highly specialised UK manufacturer supplying complex, mission-critical products into some of the most demanding and technically sophisticated engineering sectors, including defence and aerospace. Reliability, precision, and responsiveness are essential in this market, and our client has built a strong reputation as a trusted long-term partner to major names within these industries.

Following continued growth and a significant investment in its commercial function, our client is now looking to strengthen its Account Management team with an experienced, relationship-focused professional who genuinely enjoys developing long-term customer partnerships.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a portfolio of existing, established accounts within a business that is not short of demand. New opportunities are generated and carefully qualified by a dedicated Business Development function before being handed to Account Management, meaning you inherit warm, qualified relationships rather than needing to prospect cold. Your focus will be retention, growth, and genuine account development, not new business hunting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of named customer accounts, predominantly within the defence and aerospace sectors, building strong, trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for your accounts, managing day-to-day communication, order status updates, and commercial queries.
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities within your existing accounts, including reviving dormant or under-developed relationships.
  • Take a strategic view of your account portfolio, understanding which relationships represent the best long-term fit for the business.
  • Work closely with technical, production, planning, supply chain, and quality colleagues to ensure customer commitments are consistently met.
  • Maintain accurate, disciplined CRM data to support forecasting and pipeline visibility.
  • Contribute commercial and pricing insight where appropriate, working alongside the Sales Director.

  • A genuine, demonstrable track record of growing revenue and retention within an existing account base, not just managing accounts that were already performing well.
  • A real understanding of how defence and aerospace customers operate, and how to be responsive to their expectations, whether or not you have worked in this specific manufacturing environment before.
  • The ability to translate technical detail from engineering colleagues into clear, commercially relevant conversations with customers.
  • Strong CRM discipline and comfort with structured pipeline reporting.
  • A calm, consultative, detail-orientated style, balanced with genuine commercial drive.
  • An existing network within defence or aerospace is an advantage but is absolutely not essential, as new opportunities are generated and qualified for you.
  • No engineering qualification is required, just genuine curiosity about the product and sector.

The Package

  • £32,000 - £42,000 base salary, dependent on experience (flexible for an exceptional candidate with genuine defence/aerospace account management experience)
  • Bonus / commission structure
  • Standard company benefits package
  • Fully site-based role, Monday to Friday, no hybrid working, no travel requirement as customers are hosted on-site
