Job Title: Account Manager – Education

Salary: c£29,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience) + bonus + comprehensive benefits package

Jisc grade: CRG3

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week

Reports into: Commercial Insights & Sales Strategy Manager

Working style: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and the Manchester hub office. Meeting in person is something we value, so you may need to travel on occasion to other offices. Due to the nature of the role, applicants should ideally live within Manchester or within easy commuting distance.

The role:

As the Account Manager for your territory, you'll own and grow a portfolio of university and agency clients, becoming their trusted partner for all Prospects products and services.

You'll build strong, strategic relationships, uncover customer needs, identify new revenue opportunities, and deliver exceptional service that drives long-term success. Using data and market insights, you'll spot student trends, shape account strategies, and provide evidence-based recommendations that create real commercial impact.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own and grow a portfolio of university and agency accounts, acting as the trusted advisor for Prospects products and services.
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, identifying opportunities to increase engagement, value, and revenue.
  • Drive sales growth through account development, cross-selling, upselling, and new business opportunities.
  • Create and deliver territory plans that expand market presence and achieve ambitious sales targets.
  • Use customer, sales, and market data to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and shape successful account strategies.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, both virtual and in person, that influence decision-makers and showcase the value of Prospects solutions.
  • Proactively identify new contacts and buying opportunities within customer organisations to maximise growth potential.
  • Champion customer success by ensuring high levels of satisfaction, resolving challenges, and driving product adoption.
  • Collaborate across Jisc to deliver exceptional customer experiences and tailored solutions that meet client needs.
  • Represent the voice of the customer, influencing service improvements and helping shape future products and services.
  • Spot opportunities beyond the Prospects portfolio and connect customers with the wider range of Jisc solutions.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • A proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong B2B sales experience, including both new business development and account management.
  • Experience delivering engaging presentations to a range of audiences, both in person and virtually.
  • Proven ability to generate leads, nurture opportunities through the sales pipeline, and successfully close business.

Skills and Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Experience managing and developing relationships with both direct clients and agency partners.
  • Excellent account management skills, with the ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships.
  • Confident presenter who can influence, engage and inspire a variety of audiences.
  • Highly organised, proactive and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail.
  • Results-driven and motivated by achieving and exceeding targets.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to identify opportunities and create value for customers.
  • Comfortable using technology and adopting new systems and tools to drive performance.

Desirable

  • Experience using Salesforce.com or a similar CRM platform.
