Smithfield advises listed and private companies on investor communications and provides support on transactions including cross-border and domestic M&A and restructuring, as well as IPOs and other capital raisings. We work with UK and international companies of all sizes and across all sectors of the market.
We also specialise in corporate communications for the Financial Services sector, advising blue chip asset managers, banks, insurers and professional services firms, helping them build and protect their reputations. We create communications programmes around best in class media relations, content creation, thought leadership, events and crisis management to help our clients meet their wider business objectives.

Smithfield is currently looking for an Account Manager/ Senior Account Manager with specific financial services experience to join their tight knit team of 25 consultants. The role is based in our London Offices in Victoria. You will be joining an enthusiastic and driven team who are truly invested in the work they do. This friendly and collaborative environment will be a strong fit for candidates with a can-do attitude and a keen interest in politics, economics and current affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Excellent media relations experience
- Ability to develop engaging stories for media
- Provide informed counsel to clients on often complex issues
- Ideally, some experience coaching junior team members
- Managing teams and workload
- Ability to project manage campaigns and oversee the quality of work produced
Requirements:
- A demonstrable interest in and knowledge of, business, financial services and current affairs
- Ideally, agency experience and a track record of advising companies in strategic, corporate and crisis communications across sectors
- Excellent written, numerical and analytical skills
- Strong communicator, able to influence and persuade verbally and in writing
- Experience in communications for personal finance and/or investment brands is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to lead on projects from concept to coverage
- To ‘own’ client and media relationships with limited senior supervision
- A strong networker and ambassador, both internally and externally. Continually seeking to broaden knowledge and contact base across the City
- Enthusiastic team player
- An ability and desire to share knowledge with and mentor other team members
- Hard working with meticulous attention to detail
- Contributes to a constructive working environment
- Leads by example, meeting the values and approach of Smithfield to help the business meet its strategic goals
