We Are Sparta
Sparta is the next-generation commodity trading platform. We give trading desks the clarity, control, and collaboration they need to move faster and trade smarter.
In February 2025, we secured $42 million in Series B funding. Now we’re scaling up across the business, and it’s an exciting time to join. Our people are the driving force behind everything we do. At Sparta, you’ll be trusted to take ownership, backed by a team who wants you to succeed. You’ll be challenged, supported, and given room to grow. Because building something this ambitious takes everyone at their best. At Sparta, your work has reach. From improving our platform, to powering smarter decisions for our customers, to changing how commodity trading is done around the world. And because we’re growing fast, you won’t just build your career. You’ll accelerate it, with a level of ownership and impact you simply don’t get at bigger, more bureaucratic companies.
The role
We’re looking for a London-based Account Manager to own and grow a portfolio of Sparta’s smaller accounts. This is a retention-and-growth role, not a new-logo hunting role: you’ll be the day-to-day commercial owner for a book of existing customers, protecting revenue at renewal and identifying and closing upsell and cross-sell opportunities within it. This is a role for someone a couple of years into account management who wants to progress quickly.
You’ll learn directly from highly experienced Account Directors and take on bigger, more complex accounts as Sparta scales. We’re growing fast, and the room to move up comes with it.
What You’ll Do

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Own a portfolio of smaller accounts, acting as the primary commercial point of contact for each customer.
- Build and execute a renewal plan for every account in your portfolio, working to protect and grow existing ARR.
- Identify and close upsell and cross-sell opportunities (additional seats, products or commodity verticals) within your existing account base.
- Consistently meet retention and expansion targets across your assigned portfolio.
- Run regular check-ins and business reviews with customers to track usage, surface risk early, and reinforce the value Sparta delivers.
- Keep account and opportunity records accurate and up to date in HubSpot, including renewals pipeline and MEDDPICC qualification.
- Partner with Customer Success on onboarding, adoption and usage data to spot expansion and churn-risk signals before they become problems.
- Escalate at-risk accounts promptly and work with the Head of Sales on recovery or win-back plans.
- Support Account Directors on strategic enterprise accounts as needed, building the experience to take on larger accounts and more senior sales responsibility over time
Who You Are
- 2-3 years’ experience in an account management role, ideally in B2B SaaS, financial data or commodities.
- Hands-on ownership of both retention and expansion. You’ve run renewals and closed the upsell and cross-sell yourself, rather than passing growth opportunities to a separate salesperson to close.
- Comfortable managing a high volume of smaller accounts at once and prioritising your time effectively.
- A confident relationship-builder with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised and process-driven, with a working knowledge of CRM and AI tools.
- Genuinely curious about commodities and energy markets, with a real appetite to learn.
- Resilient and proactive, comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
