Inspired is a market leading, technology-enabled provider of energy and sustainability solutions in the UK - supporting businesses to transition to net zero carbon and manage their response to climate change.
Established in 2000, we became the first publicly quoted advisor following a successful AIM debut in 2011. We are now the UK’s number one destination for businesses seeking expert insight and advisory services to help them manage their energy costs, reduce their carbon emissions and prove their net zero carbon and ESG strategies to their investors and customers.
We are looking for an Account Manager to join our successful Key Accounts team. This role is home based with travel to our Kirkham office required at least twice a month.
Role and Responsibilities
The Account Manager – Key Accounts is responsible for the retention, growth, and commercial development of a defined portfolio of clients. Unlike a standard account management role, this position carries an explicit mandate to identify and convert cross-sell and upsell opportunities across Inspired Energy's full product suite - spanning energy procurement, ESG and emissions reporting, and behind-the-meter (BTM) energy management solutions.
The AM will build deep, multi-threaded relationships within client organisations, ensuring Inspired is viewed not only as a procurement partner, but as a trusted strategic adviser on energy costs, sustainability obligations, and long-term energy management.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Client Relationship & Portfolio Management
- Manage a defined portfolio of key accounts, acting as the primary day-to-day point of contact.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships at multiple levels within each client organisation, including Procurement, Finance, Sustainability, and Facilities/Engineering.
- Conduct regular client reviews to assess satisfaction, upcoming requirements, and strategic fit.
- Proactively manage renewals, re-tenders, and contract negotiations to secure long-term retention.
Cross-Sell & Upsell
- Identify and pursue opportunities to introduce additional Inspired Energy products and services to existing clients, including emissions and ESG reporting solutions, and BTM energy assets (solar, storage, EV charging, HVAC optimisation).
- Map each client's organisational structure to identify unspent budget headroom across departments not yet engaging with Inspired Energy.
- Develop account growth plans with clearly defined cross-sell targets and timelines, tracked through CRM.
- Collaborate with internal specialists (BTM, ESG, Procurement) to build compelling, multi-product propositions tailored to each client's energy strategy.
- Work towards a "land and expand" model - growing initial procurement-only relationships into multi-service partnerships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
