ACCOUNT MANAGER – TECHNAL
Job Description – Account Manager (midlands & Northwest Region)
POSITION: ACCOUNT MANAGER
BUSINESS UNIT: TECHNAL UK & IRE
REPORTING TO: NATIONAL SALES MANAGER / SALES DIRECTOR
LOCATION: UK REGIONAL TERRITORY
DEPARTMENT: SALES
Role purpose
To drive sustainable sales growth, profitability, and market share within the assigned UK region by developing existing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and promoting Technal's range of aluminium architectural systems and solutions. The account manager will work closely with fabricators, contractors, developers, architects, and internal teams to deliver exceptional customer support and achieve regional revenue targets.
Key objectives
- Achieve the regional sales growth, revenue, and profitability targets.
- Generate profitable business through the promotion and sale of Technal aluminium systems and solutions.
- Expand Technal's customer base through the acquisition of new business opportunities.
- Strengthening and expanding relationships with existing customers to drive loyalty, improve retention, and increase market share.
- Support the delivery of company strategy, values, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & business development
- Achieve agreed sales, growth, and profitability targets within the designated territory and assigned key accounts.
- Develop and execute territory sales plans to maximise market opportunities.
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across fabricators, contractors, developers, and other market stakeholders.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of sales opportunities to support business growth.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify opportunities and threats.
- Manage the assigned area by leveraging internal data, market intelligence, and local knowledge to optimise performance and identify growth opportunities.
Customer Relations management
- Build, maintain, and promote long-term customer relationships through regular engagement and a thorough understanding of customer needs.
- Provide an exceptional level of customer support before, during, and after project delivery.
- Act as the primary point of contact for designated accounts, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Assist fabricators and customers in identifying technical and commercial solutions that support project success.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of business objectives.

Product promotion & technical support
- Deliver professional product presentations and demonstrations to fabricators, contractors, and other customers.
- Promote Technal products and solutions to increase specification and sales opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Technal systems, product developments, and market applications.
- Develop a sound knowledge of competitor products, systems, offers, and market positioning.
Internal collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments including specification, marketing, customer service, operations, and technical teams to ensure coordinated business delivery.
- Foster strong relationships with the specification team, ensuring effective collaboration and shared project opportunities.
- Support company initiatives, campaigns, and strategic projects as required.
- Actively contributes to a positive team environment and culture of continuous improvement.
Reporting & administration
- Prepare and present monthly sales reports, forecasts, revenue updates, pipeline reviews, and market feedback to management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, project, and opportunity information within the company CRM system.
- Ensure all sales activities are documented and managed in accordance with company processes and procedures.
- Attend sales meetings, training sessions, exhibitions, networking events, and corporate functions as required.
General
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness and sound business judgment in all activities.
- Always represent Technal professionally.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.
Essential
Skills & experience
- Proven track record in sales, account management, or business development.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and manage customer relationships effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site-specific safety requirements when visiting customer sites.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft office applications
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.

Desirable
- Experience within the construction, façade, fenestration, aluminium systems, or building products industry.
- Understanding of specification sales and project-based selling.
- Knowledge of fabricator, contractor, and architectural markets.
- Technical understanding of aluminium window, door, curtain walling, and façade solutions.
- Experience using estimating software, ideally TechDesign, with the ability to produce accurate and efficient cost estimates.
