Office Manager / Bookkeeper
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
Job Description:
Heights Accountancy is growing, and we're looking for an organised, experienced Office Manager / Bookkeeper to help keep the practice running smoothly.
The role is available either three days a week or full-time, whichever suits you. It's remote working, but we're looking for someone based in Lancashire.
If you enjoy keeping things in order, are confident across the main accounting platforms, and like being the person who makes a team run well, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
You'll support both the practice and a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients, with responsibilities including:
- Client onboarding and day-to-day client communications
- Managing workflow and making sure deadlines are met
- HMRC communications and gateway management
- Payroll processing
- Bookkeeping for multiple clients, including purchase and sales ledger
- Bank reconciliations
- Self Assessment and annual accounts preparation
- Maintaining accurate, well-organised client records
- Ad hoc admin tasks to keep the practice running smoothly

This role would suit someone who likes structure, takes ownership, and enjoys being part of a small team where their work makes a visible difference.
What we're looking for
You must have:
- Experience working in an accountancy practice
- Strong bookkeeping skills, including ledgers, bank reconciliations and double-entry
- Payroll experience
- Experience managing sales and purchase ledgers
- Confidence using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and FreeAgent
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Clear, confident client communication
