Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively recruiting for an Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join a rapidly growing & successful financial services group based on the outskirts of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve preparation of management accounts, accruals, prepayments, along with consolidation of financial reports and regulatory returns. You will prepare statutory accounts, maintain financial records, reconciliations of ledgers, prepare/process journals and monitor cash movements/balances. You will approve payments, support payroll processing, assist with audit queries and ensure controls/processes are documented. You will be involved in various month-end & year-end processes to support busier periods. You will support the Accounting Manager with training/developing junior finance team members, along with ad-hoc projects including process improvement as the organisation continues to grow.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this varied accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, experience preparing management accounts and financial statements, with a keen eye for detail. You will have strong organisational skills, a proactive and customer-focused approach, with excellent verbal communication skills to build both internal and external relationships at all levels. You will be a strong problem solver with key MS Excel skills, and trained in a range of financial systems. You will be part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience. Adaptable to business needs and willing to learn. Experience within the Financial Services or Insurance sectors, along with knowledge of Sun or Sage Intacct finance systems would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return
This varied accountant role offers a salary between £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependable on experience) for a 12-month fixed-term contract, based on the outskirts of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
