A small, friendly and growing international recruitment business is looking for an Accountant to join its team.
The finance function is currently going through a restructure, making this an exciting time to join.
There’s plenty changing, and your experience and opinion will genuinely count.
They’re looking for someone who understands how finance works within a contract recruitment business — from timesheet to invoice, payroll to cash — and who is confident enough to spot when something isn’t working and suggest a better way.
The role
This is a hands-on accounting position covering the full contract recruitment finance cycle.
Responsibilities will include:
- Checking timesheet and placement data in Bullhorn and raising sales invoices for mid-month and month-end billing runs
- Supporting the preparation and checking of both payroll runs, ensuring contractor pay, client billing and margins all align
- Posting and reconciling transactions in Xero, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations and control accounts
- Allocating and reconciling cash across Wise, HSBC and Lloyds, while supporting junior team members
- Supporting the Finance Manager with drawdowns and reconciliations on the RBD facility around billing runs
- Processing contractor and supplier invoices, payment runs and expense claims
- Managing credit control and chasing overdue payments while maintaining positive client relationships
- Supporting month-end, including journals, accruals, prepayments and management accounts
- Assisting with VAT returns and keeping records accurate and audit-ready
- Helping to improve, document and embed finance processes as the team restructures
- Identifying what isn’t working and helping shape more efficient ways of working

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
