About the Role
You’ll prepare accounts and tax work independently, working across a portfolio of clients with support from senior colleagues. This is a great next step for someone with 2–5 years’ experience looking to build genuine ownership over client work while continuing to develop towards leading a team and a portfolio of clients.
What We’re Looking For
- A natural communicator – comfortable explaining financial information clearly to clients and colleagues alike, and building the kind of rapport that turns routine contact into real client confidence
- Analytically sharp – able to interpret statutory accounts and business data and turn them into concise, informative management accounts that clients can act on
- A rounded adviser – capable of looking beyond a single return to a client’s whole financial and tax position (corporate, personal, and family) and advising accordingly
- Quick to adopt new technology – genuinely curious about technical innovation in accountancy and comfortable bringing new tools and accounting practices into everyday work

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
